Election 2012: Forgotten Tragedy–Deepwater Horizon

This is the first political cartoon I drew back in 2010.

Where has the time gone? Why has this never been brought up? Does the electorate not care or is the media giving both parties a pass?

    • Well, not exactly. I was just seeing if I could do it. I never scanned this into the computer, edited or anything until yesterday. This took a long time to edit because I was using inferior materials to draw with. This blog is going to go over its one year mark next week and I have learned a lot since I drew that comic. The biggest was production time is everything, so I have to make sure I use pens and paper that prevent bleeding and use sketch pens that do not show up in scans. Bleeding, pencil squiggles and crap paper make for hideous scans. My OCDs prevented earlier publican. That cartoon took well over three or four hours to draw and nearly as long to edit. I don’t have that kind of time anymore.

      • That’s part of the process. A person who carries without reflecting on their progress won’t do well. It’s like that quote, who is it Karl Marx? Those who ignore the mistakes of the past are doomed to repeat them in the future? That’s not it, word for word, but you get the idea.

Quite often, as I’m sure you can tell, my SW toons are really rushed. I have errors, typos. I don’t use photoshop, wouldn’t know how to… but I can still see that aspects of the drawing etc is improving. So, baby steps. I think we’re both moving in the right direction and you’ve just given me a whole bunch of great tips, probably without even realising it! 😉
